Another service which I offer on the side although still within the main 3D printing business is my Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Cover Letter writing service. My particular style is more similar to a CV than a resume and is perfectly valid for any job application. Having a well-written CV should be of the highest importance to any job seeker. In today’s society where many roles, no matter how basic or high-level, can have over 200 applicants, the vast majority of applicants will only ever have their CV considered. With your one chance at impressing an employer, make it count. Cover letters are a similar deal and I believe should serve the purpose of concisely demonstrating your enthusiasm and suitability for the role with the technical details to follow in the CV.
For many years I have been an avid writer and very regular contributor to various online news websites, discussion forums and even local newspapers. After helping out friends and family with their resumes, cover letters and applications to all sorts of jobs, I now do this for the public and have helped many people upgrade their resumes and cover letters. I am a qualified engineer and have significant experience in technical report writing. I have also been employed by a government department in Canberra where I drafted documents taken before politicians. I have worked with many customers who speak a native language other than English and convert their document into fluent, grammatically perfect English.
I offer 2 main services, both are completely free up-front. I will complete the work package, show you a copy and if you are happy and wish for the file, I then charge only $20 for a cover letter and $40 for a CV. I am 100% confident in my ability that I will do the work with no up-front fee required and customers can see exactly what they will get before payment.
- With your resume, I will take it and convert it into my format I have used for years. This format is clear, concise and I will take all of your dot points and turn them into paragraphs. I will match key selection criteria to your resume and tailor it to each individual job. An example of this with all personal details removed is at the bottom of this page.
- With your cover letters, I will tailor this to the specific job you are applying for and tell a story about you and why you want to work for the company. I make the employer want to meet you with the level of enthusiasm I can bring in just a few paragraphs.

- My writing style explained in-depth
My particular style is that of a CV where I try to write a short summary of the progression of your career as oppose to a dot-point list of some resumes. I strongly believe in my approach and many happy customers and my own past employers also agree my format is much more eye-catching and engaging than the standard. I aim for three pages maximum for any resume with no images or colours except for the job titles which can easily be made black and white anyway if you wish for that. I believe that traditional dot-point resumes of duties at a past job do not separate you from any other employee who may have worked there while having the same roles but employers want to know why you are better than average. What matters is how effective you were at the job and how through your dedication and strong work ethic, your employer took notice and you were granted additional roles and responsibilities.
With this in mind I turn each job in your history into a paragraph that details your roles while telling a story of how much of a positive impact you had on the company or business. An added benefit to this approach is by removing dot points it allows me to tell your story using many different words for the purpose of demonstrating a strong grasp of the English language. This is an additional bonus for people who do not speak English as their first language. Employers take notice when you have perfect sentence structure, grammar and synonym use. Something that I regularly fix on customers’ resumes is the constant starting of sentences with ‘I […]’. By alternating sentences with terms such as ‘My duties were’, ‘In addition to’, ‘The project was’ and any other sentences starting with words other than I, this can have an immediate impact on any reader by noticing the resume is less like a checklist of what you have done and more like a story of how you have achieved it.
I believe a section of your personal interests is important because you are a human and not a robot worker. In a good case scenario which might be more regular than you think, someone interviewing you might have similar hobbies and it can be a fantastic way to reduce stress by discussing this at an interview. Finally, I have a strong dislike to ‘fluff’, descriptors and terms which aim to sound impressive but come off as pretentious. Employers are smart, do not try to fool them with big words that have no meaning or generic terms that every single person who has applied for has also used on their application.
The biggest culprits are describing oneself as a team player and being results-driven. I can all but guarantee a customer that the vast majority of all applicants describe themselves as a team player. A team however requires all sorts of workers and personality types to function efficiently and being a member of a team says nothing of their ability to perform individually or as that team. I will detail your experience within different sorts of teams throughout your employment history, the role you filled and how the team benefited from you through your output and not merely the fact that you were a member. Results-driven is another overused term which is a pretentious way to state that you perform work with the goal of completing the work. This says nothing of your enthusiasm, ability to learn or skill at achieving these results. I will make sure that your potential employer knows you are dedicated to your work and when you don’t know the solution you strive to find it through efficient, proven and safe means. There are other grossly overused terms in modern resumes and I will make sure your resume is free from these instant turn-offs.
That is my style in depth so customers know what to expect. Of course I can tailor a resume to any way that a customer wants. My style has landed me many interviews in the past and I am often told of how impressive it is from customers and employers alike.
